Lapierre Rarity:
2016 Lapierre Morgon Sans Soufre

Posted by Joe Salamone

Lapierre's Morgon is one of the most wildly delicious wines in existence. The Sans Soufre bottling takes it to another level.

Sadly, the Sans Soufre bottling is something that we search high and low for and never seem to nail down in good enough quantities.

We've made the comparison with the normal sulphured version a bunch of times over many vintages. Generally speaking, the Sans Soufre is more expressive, deeper and flaunts a more intense mineral impression.

The 2016 is a gorgeous vintage for Lapierre's Morgon (both the sulphured and unsulphured version). It possesses the nervosité and bright immediacy that makes Lapierre so gulpable. Like the regular version it has very clear herbal tinged cherry, but the unsulphured version adds a slightly textural element that's really lovely.

I'll keep this brief. Everyone knows the deal with Lapierre. Plus we have so little of the Sans Soufre cuvée that there's no point fanning the fire. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
