2013 Piedmont Sweet Spot Revisited:
2013 Castello di Verduno Barbaresco Rabajà

Posted by Ian McFadden

When you combine the Rabajà vineyard with the 2013 vintage in Piedmont, the results are dazzling.

The 2013 vintage in Piedmont is all about finesse and clarity. Simply put, Rabajà is a blessed piece of earth for the Nebbiolo grape.

It's easy to imagine Castello di Verduno's 2013 Rabajà being an incredible success. The wine delivers superb breeding and complexity, while presenting staggering value.

Rabajà produces wines of impressive power, but that's only part of the story. Rabajà is, above all, about completeness and elegance.

In the lithe and energetic 2013 vintage, Castello di Verduno's Rabajà really shines. It boasts a gorgeous and precise aromatic complexity with a refined texture. There's incredibly pure high-toned red fruits, herbs, dried flowers and earth. Rabajà is a riper site that always assumes an imposing palate presence. In this vintage though, it's really defined by lift and an animated minerality.

For those of you who want to dig deeper into the estate and their sites, I strongly encourage you to listen to Levi Dalton's I'll Drink to That interview with Castello di Verduno's enologist, Mario Andrion.

We offered the 2013 Rabajà last June and I'm happy to have another opportunity to offer it. This is a serious overachiever and something not to be missed.
