"This is excellent" -Burghound
2017 Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre

Posted by Ian McFadden

Lafon has never been better.

Along with Roulot and Coche-Dury, Lafon is the standard-bearer of Meursault. His 2017s show this benchmark in top form.

In 2017, Lafon's collection hits a shocking level of precision and finesse. They are jaw-dropping wines.

The 2017 Clos de la Barre really highlights Lafon's success this vintage. It has plenty of substance and mid-palate heft wrapped around a driving acidity that leads to a really long, mineral-drenched finish.

The texture of the 2017 is incredible. It combines intensity with a lovely silken raciness. The total package serves a potent reminder of why this wine always far surpasses its villages level status.

I'm going to wrap this up. Clos de la Barre has a huge following among Burgundy fanatics. This is the first time that we've been able to offer the wine in five years. I encourage you to place your orders sooner rather than later.

Burghound:

"The cool and pure nose is comprised by note of essence of freshly sliced apple and lemon rind along with subtle hints of hazelnut, matchstick and spice. The generous, round and fleshy medium-bodied flavors possess fine volume and richness while displaying impressive length on the balanced finale. As it often is, this is excellent and particularly so for a villages level wine. This too is lovely and is a wine that should drink well both young and with mid-term aging."
