Sonntag Geschlossen:
The Sublime, Whispers of Grüner Veltliner

Today we present a three-vintage vertical of Grüner Veltliners from a reclusive farmer near the Czech border in Austria.

This is only the second time we've ever seen a small allocation of these wines; we believe it's only the second time any wine has been released from this curious cellar.

A Master At Work
2017 FX Pichler Grüner Veltliner Kellerberg Smaragd

The grandeur of Pichler's wines constantly amaze. They’re powerful and intense, teetering on the edge of excess, but beneath the surface, they possess a clarity and precision that perfectly balances their undeniable swagger.

"Almost savagely intense" -David Schildknecht When you talk to Austrian fanatics about the best vineyards, you hear the same thing: Kellerberg, Singerriedel, Steinertal and Steiner Hund.

The Prager Achleiten Trio

"Fabulous!" - 2017 Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Steinertal Smaragd

Along with Kellerberg and Singerriedel, Steinertal is one of the Wachau's best sites. For many Austrian wine fans, it simply doesn't get any better than Alzinger's Steinertal.

Holy Ground: 2017 F.X. Pichler Riesling Kellerberg Smaragd

Few wines on earth grab your attention like FX Pichler's. They possess a bold swagger and power, but that's only part of the story. Look beneath the surface and you'll find something very intricate. They are also wonderfully clear, precise and with their own unique flamboyant elegance.

A Game Changer - Best Yet:
2016 Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg

Bernard Ott renders Grüner Veltliners of incredible tension and brightness. In this regard, Ott may very well be without peer when it comes to Grüner.

The Rosé Experience of the Summer
2017 Stein Rosé

The last time we were able to secure enough of this wine to do an offering was for the 2013 vintage. This time, go long because it may be another five years and July and August will be no joke.

2015 F.X. Pichler Riesling "Unendlich"

Along with 2007 and 2013, Pichler's 2015s are the best that we've seen from the estate in the past decade. Of course, the collection reaches its high point with Riesling Unendlich.

2016 Alzinger Riesling Steinertal

Steinertal is Alzinger's magnum opus - the apex of his style.
