We've been waiting to get our hands on Oddero's 2021 Villero.
Oddero is making some of the most compelling wines in all of Piedmont. They are turning out classically styled Nebbiolos of incredible purity and detail. Consistently, the Villero has been one of our favorites.

Their 2021s are brilliant. Antonio Galloni writes, "I was so impressed with these 2021s from Poderi e Cantine Oddero... Readers will find wines that express all the best the vintage had to offer."
Villero is one of the top sites of Barolo’s Castiglione Falletto. The Villero cru faces southwest and has mostly clay soil, which gives the wines their sense of muscle, as well as their boldness and plush fruit, flower, and earth.
The 2021 Villero offers up beautiful aromatics and very clearly announces that this is a world-class wine. Antonio Galloni calls it "simply magnificent". It's hard not to be impressed by how grand the wine is while expressing itself in a way that's emphatic and understated. It's hard not to expect big things from the Villero.
Oddero is working at an elite level. In the bright and focused 2021 vintage, Villero really flourished.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2021 Barolo Villero soars from the glass with intensely spiced, balsamic-tinged aromatics. Deceptively medium in body, with superb persistence and class, the 2021 is simply magnificent. Beams of tannin shape the unforgettable, persistent finish. This is another wine that demands patience. The Villero is not an easy wine, rather it is a Barolo that offers a more inward, at times intellectual, expression of Nebbiolo."
