Schäfer-Fröhlich produces some of Germany's greatest dry wines.

Today, we pay tribute to the wines of Schäfer-Fröhlich with a wide range of Grosses Gewächs, including wines that we rarely get to offer and magnums. 

Frühlingsplätzchen is a wine that's very hard to find in quantity. It is also one of the most fascinating wines in Tim Fröhlich's lineup. The vineyard was made famous by the Nahe's other benchmark dry wine producer, Emrich-Schönleber. Its signature is a bright floral profile with gloss and cut. This red slate site is all about cool-toned focus.

Tim Fröhlich takes this site's qualities to the extreme. In his hands, Frühlingsplätzchen becomes a site of laser-sharp purity.

The Kupfergrube is a largely volcanic site with a high iron content. The wine is defined by a singular mineral expression, unlike any other Riesling in Germany. Layers of saline notes, smoke, pulverized rock, and topsoil. What's equally amazing about Kupfergrube is how this fascinating minerality is interwoven into the citrus and florality.

Stromberg is a much more expansive and muscular expression with dark, staining minerality. The entire staff was recently floored by a 2020 Stromberg GG. Schäfer-Fröhlich's signature is force and intensity combined with ruthlessly sharp detail. Every edge feels like it's been sharpened and brought into focus. The style works wonderfully with Stromberg.

Finally, Felseneck is Schäfer-Fröhlich's top wine. It combines all of the best attributes of Tim's other sites into something truly stunning. It consolidates all of the minerality, texture, and finesse of the other GGs into one stunning whole.
