“Outstanding complexity” - Burghound
2017 Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet

Posted by Joe Salamone

If you're after classic, mineral-drenched Chablis, Tribut is one of the most important names to know.

I write this with some trepidation. There's never been enough Tribut to go around, but now that Tribut has gone from insider secret to cult wine things have become really ugly.

The quality level across Tribut's 1er Crus is really tight. With that said, I have a particular soft spot for the mineral precision of Côte de Léchet. It seems that I'm not alone - Côte de Léchet always sells out quickly.

Tribut's 2017s are stunning. They have the richness and presence of the vintage with an intense salty, Chablisienne minerality coursing through it.

Tribut’s 2017 Côte de Léchet has a gripping, tactile and saline minerality that's absolutely thrilling. It offers up lots of brightness and refinement. You're left with the impression of classic Chablis with the volume turned up slightly. The extra intensity gives the 2017 an unusual amount of complexity. The 2017 maintains a stony cut and tightly packed core which promises that it's holding plenty in reserve.

Before wrapping up, I should mention that Tribut only has 0.88ha in Côte de Léchet and the wine rarely sees the light of day. We're only sending this offer to a small group of Chablis fanatics. Still, I expect it to be gone by Monday morning.

Burghound: “The hallmark citrus nuances of a fine Côte de Léchet are present in force on the white flower, tidal pool and spiced apple scents. There is outstanding complexity to the impressively intense and tension-filled flavors that brim with minerality on the very dry, clean and focused finale. This beauty should age to excellent effect yet could likely be enjoyed after only a few years.”
