Lapierre Rarity: 2015 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre

Posted by Joe Salamone

The 2015 Beaujolais are difficult to find in quantity. When it comes to Cuvée Marcel, things are especially ugly.

A mere trickle of Cuvée Marcel arrived in the U.S. At any given time in the past six months, you'd only find a listing or two for the wine.

In Beaujolais, 2015 was warm and dry, which, along with winds, decreased yields significantly. For Lapierre, you really feel this with the Cuvée Marcel. Our advice is not to miss this opportunity to grab a few bottles.

Cuvée Marcel is a selection of the oldest vines across Lapierre's vineyards. The bottling always delivers a sappy complexity that the regular bottling doesn't. What's truly notable is how it ratchets up the concentration without betraying the deliciousness and agility that makes Lapierre so much fun to drink.

The 2015 Cuvée Marcel is an especially concentrated and powerful version. Despite its power and depth, the profile is bright with raspberry, strawberry, cherry fruit, citrus, tea and mineral notes. Interestingly, the extra concentration in the Cuvée Marcel brings with it a much greater impression of refinement than you get in the regular bottling.

I'm going to wrap this up. We don't have a ton to sell and most of you reading this know the deal with Lapierre. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
