"Excellent precision and verve"
2008 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St-Jacques

Posted by Ian McFadden

I'm very happy to offer Fourrier's 2008 Clos St. Jacques. I remember tasting the 2008s young and being blown away. They've impressed me even more with age.

Of course, the Clos St. Jacques represents a high point of the range.

With the exception of Amoureuses, there's likely no other 1er Cru that can deliver the impact, complexity and sophistication of Clos St. Jacques. Fourrier's is one of the great examples of this site.

The 2008 Red Burgundy vintage delivered outrageous purity of fruit, taut minerality and specificity of terroir. Of course, Fourrier's style flourished here. Burghound's note on the CSJ captures the wine very well. He highlights the "ample minerality... ultra pure middle weight flavors that possess excellent precision."

Fourrier's signature is a clarity of expression, precise finesse and an ultra-seductive mineral-laden texture. Few wines delight the senses from so many angles. Clos St. Jacques does this with a particular power. In 2008, both the site and Fourrier's acute handle on it is blatantly clear.

The 2008 Clos St. Jacques is pristine and nuanced. It offers up plenty of muscle with a vividly clear, soil-inflected minerality. There's a beautiful combination of flamboyance and soulful depth that Fourrier pulls off so well.

I'm very happy to offer. There are few wines that showcase the beauty of Fourrier as well as this. Very limited. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

2008 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin
1er Cru Clos St-Jacques

Burghound: "A beautiful panoply of floral and herbal suffused red and blue pinot fruit liberally laced with ample minerality that also defines the textured and ultra pure middle weight flavors that possess excellent precision and verve on the driving and wonderfully long and linear finish."
