“Excellent” - Neal Martin
2017 Duroché Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut St. Jacques

Watching Duroché's ascent over the past ten years has been very exciting. Quality has skyrocketed.

The domaine crafts red Burgundies exactly as we like them - understated and pure.

All indications point to the 2017 vintage as being a high-water mark for Duroché. The transparency and nimbleness of the vintage seem to have coincided with Pierre Duroché's continual perfection of his winemaking. Needlessly to say, great things happened.

The 1er Cru Lavaut St. Jacques is one of the most fascinating bottles in Duroché's 2017 line-up. The combination of energy and delicacy with soil inflected punch is really impressive.

We’re happy to offer Duroche’s 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques for $149.95 per bottle.

The 2017 Lavaut St. Jacques has a crystal clear expression and is rendered with incredibly fine detail. Gevrey’s earthy minerality, intensity, and structure are presented beautifully.

Pierre Duroché seems to be steadfastly guiding the domaine towards Burgundy's top tier. The 2017 are some of the best wines Pierre has ever produced—as his Lavaut Saint-Jacques clearly demonstrates.

Neal Martin, Vinous Media: "The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a detailed, tertiary-scented bouquet that blossoms in the glass. Blackberry, wild hedgerow and scents reminiscent of walking through woods just after an autumn shower. The palate is very well defined with filigree tannin. This is beautifully poised with tangible energy towards the persistent, Earl Grey-tinged finish. Excellent."
