Côte du Py Lapierre Style:
2015 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Camille

Posted by Joe Salamone

Côte du Py is Morgon's most famous vineyard, and one of Beaujolais' top sites.

Naturally, when word got out that Lapierre was bottling a Côte du Py, we were very excited.

The first Camille was in 2013. Since the first release we've been scrambling to grab as much of the wine as possible. 2015 marks the first vintage that we have enough quantity to do an offering.

2015 is a don't miss vintage for Lapierre. For Lapierre, 2015 joins a small group of vintages, like 2005, 2009 and 2014, where his wines hit an extraordinarily high level. Which is to say, this is a really compelling collection from Lapierre.

Lapierre has an impressive track record in riper vintages, like 2015. The wines pick up another layer of complexity, intrigue and punch without forfeiting the delicious drinkability that's Lapierre's hallmark. The total package is really exciting.

For many people, 2015 Beaujolais is poised to be a top vintage. It boasts a lavish intensity while maintaining good freshness. The 2015 Camille shows the layered richness of the vintage married to a vibrant and firm mineral core. Neal Martin's note aptly highlights the "beautiful delineation and harmony on the finish." All of the class and spiced, wild cherry signature of Côte du Py is on bold display.

I'm going to wrap this up. Camille is sourced from a 1ha vineyard, and our small parcel is sure to quickly disappear. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

2015 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Camille

Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Morgon Cuvée Camille, which since its debut in 2013 comes from a lieu-diet in Côte du Py on granite soils, has a very expressive bouquet with wild strawberry and raspberry scents, a hint of clove in the background, perhaps even fennel. The palate is laden with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, a pinch of sea salt and displaying beautiful delineation and harmony on the finish. What a gorgeous Morgon - one that is going to give several years of pleasure. It will be bottled without filtration the day after my visit."
