Classicism and Poise in Côte-Rôtie:
2013 Jamet Côte-Rôtie

Posted by Joe Salamone

2013 in the Northern Rhône produced a gorgeous cast of wines.

It's the Northern Rhône exactly as we like it. The wines are mineral and structured with a vibrant core of acidity.

Of course, we expect that Jamet's 2013 Côte-Rôtie will emerge as one of the top wines of the vintage in the years and decades to come. Frankly, that's usually how it works out with Jamet, especially in higher acid vintages.

Jamet has long been the benchmark for traditional Côte-Rôtie. The heights that Jamet's Côte-Rôties reach have few peers in the entire Northern Rhône. They are amazingly elegant, precise and clear.

In vintages like 2013, Jamet's Côte-Rôtie hits a level of gracefulness and agility that's reminiscent of Burgundy. This is Côte-Rôtie in unmediated glory, boasting a poise and detailed expression of mineral, herbs, spice, savory elements and florality. The aromatics simply soar.

The 2013 Côte-Rôtie is simply a classic. Whenever vintages like this come along, we always go deep. We've learned that they age beautifully. You can find deeper and more powerful examples, but for us, Syrah is at its best when it's energetic, mineral and finessed. That's what you'll find here. Don't miss.
