A flat out brilliant wine - 2008 Dauvissat Les Clos

"A flat out brilliant wine with everything it needs to continue its ascent toward greatness... In sum, Chablis just doesn't get a whole lot better than this." -Burghound

This is a special bottle of wine. There's just no way around it.

2008 is one of our favorite Chablis vintages, Dauvissat made some of the vintage's top wines and Clos is at the top of the range.

Dauvissat's 2008 captures the Grand Cru at its absolute best. It's a dream brew. The wine possesses a grandeur of scale and an incredible amount of concentration. However, what sends the wine off the charts is how detailed its ultra-pure minerality is and the way that it carries all its weight with such finesse. The breeding it possesses is amazing.

To return to the Burghound quote, "Chablis just doesn't get a whole lot better than this." We're sending this to a very small group of Chablis fans, but this is a tiny parcel and will likely disappear.

2008 Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos

Burghound: "As it was from the very beginning, this remains a flat out brilliant wine with everything it needs to continue its ascent toward greatness. The still primary, elegant, cool and penetrating nose displays so much ocean breeze and shellfish character that it could be nothing else but Chablis. This impression is reinforced by the intensely mineral and saline-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess laser-like delineation before culminating in an explosively long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. There is still some youthful austerity present but that's no surprise given how structured this still is. If you're fortunate enough to own some of the '08 Les Clos I would strongly advise leaving it alone for at least another 3 to 5 years though note well that it should last for 20 more. In sum, Chablis just doesn't get a whole lot better than this."
