"Ric Forman's 2013 is a super-classic, old-school Napa Cabernet to treasure for the next three decades." - Antonio Galloni

Ric Forman is a stalwart of classic California Cabernet.

The 2013 vintage in Napa Valley was truly exceptional, widely touted as one of the finest in the past three decades. Even within the context of Napa’s epic 2013s, Galloni dubbed the Forman Cabernet “easily one of the wines of the vintage.”

Forman's Cabernet has an extraordinary track record for aging beautifully. Their harmony and rigorous architectures allow the wines to age for 20-30 years. The 2013 is poised to be one of the monumental, long-aging versions of this wine.

Drawn to a more traditional approach, Forman visited Bordeaux early in his career. He returned to Napa armed with techniques of European winemaking for making subtly complex and graceful wines.

After purchasing a remarkable vineyard site at the base of Napa’s Howell Mountain, he founded Forman Vineyard in 1983. He calls the vineyard Grande Roche. It's a gorgeous site of gravel and decomposed volcanic tufa over rock.

The 2013 is an intricately structured, complex medley of dark fruits, minerals, herbs and graphite. There's tremendous length, finesse and symmetry. Finally, the purity of expression is just stunning. This is the most impressive Forman Cab that I've tasted in many, many years.

I suggest that you stock up. We very much concur with Antonio Galloni when he writes that "Forman's Cabernet is probably the single greatest value in Napa Valley Cabernet". Vintages like 2013 should not be missed.

2013 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "A totally dazzling wine, Ric Forman's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is easily one of the wines of the vintage. Today, the 2013 is dense, powerful and explosive, with fabulous energy and tons of sheer intensity. Graphite, smoke, tobacco and layers of dark-fleshed fruit all open up in the glass. This is the first vintage to incorporate a dollop of Malbec. The 2013 has just been bottled. I will not be surprised at all if it merits a higher rating at some point in the future. Even better from bottle than it was from barrel, Ric Forman's 2013 is a super-classic, old-school Napa Cabernet to treasure for the next three decades. Best of all, Forman's Cabernet is probably the single greatest value in Napa Valley Cabernet."
