Revelatory German Pinot: 2013 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir Liaison

Posted by Joe Salamone

There are no other Pinots in Germany like Enderle & Moll's.

They are the most compelling non-Burgundian Pinots we've tasted all year.

We've been fans of Enderle & Moll since their first vintage in 2007. Without a doubt, 2013 is their strongest collection to date.

It seems that the word is out. A couple of months ago, we offered their single-vineyard Muschelkalk and it quickly sold out.

Liaison is a blend of younger vines (they're still around 40 years old) from Enderle & Moll's top sites of colored sandstone and limestone. The 2013 Liaison makes the magic of Enderle & Moll very clear. There's a wild intensity combined with amazing lift and elegance.

The Baden region put itself on the map with dense, powerful Pinots that may impress with their full-throttle impact, but often drinking more than a glass can feel like a chore. Enderle & Moll stands in contrast to the majority of Baden. Their Pinots are beautifully agile with vibrant acidity. In short, they offer plenty of finesse, complexity and drinkability.

Enderle & Moll really have the touch. A good amount of credit has to go to their work in the vineyards - they're incredibly conscientious, following biodynamic principles. Everything is hands-on. Sven Enderle and Florian Moll basically do everything themselves. The grapes go into an old basket press and then into older Burgundy barrels from Dujac.

This goes a long way in explaining how beautifully honest and transparent the wines are. Everyone who tastes Enderle & Moll seems to immediately become a convert. We're very happy to offer this today.
