Only The Essential:
2013 Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière

Posted by Ian McFadden

Colin-Morey's are the purest and most intense expressions of Chardonnay around. The 2013s brought the domaine's clarity and precision to the next level.

When they were first released, I bought every bottle of the 2013 PYCM that I could get my hands on. I jumped at the chance to reload on the St. Aubin Chatenière.

The 2013s are intense, precise and beautifully crystalline.

Savvy buyers flock to Colin-Morey's St. Aubin bottlings. There's no shortage of great sites in the Colin-Morey line-up, but the top St. Aubin bottlings offer such killer value that it's impossible not to take notice.

Along with En Remilly and Murgers des Dents de Chien, La Chatenière is considered St. Aubin's top site. It's a steep, very well exposed site that delivers an enveloping and powerful minerality with a driving tension.

As you can imagine, Chatenière's tensile mineral profile really flourished in 2013. It's incredibly compelling in its direct and punchy length that's complicated by citrus notes, wet rocks and stone fruits. Above all, it's the wine's clarity and purity that stand out.

Pierre-Yves Colin has quickly emerged as one of Burgundy's top talents. He's turning out some of the most exciting wines coming out of Burgundy. The 2013 Chatenière shows just how riveting the wines can be.
