Pascal Cotat's Rosé is one of the most ageworthy and compelling rosés in existence.
It's also one of the hardest to track down. Allocations are typically handed out in 6-12 bottle quantities.
Pascal Cotat's is easily one of our favorite rosés - we've had bottles with 10 and even 20 years of age that have blown us away. Most recently, a bottle of 2002 was simply beautiful.
With age, it's the terroir that comes to dominate the rosé with singular minerality. There may be a silky texture and gentle floral notes, but it's the stony minerality that defines old Cotat rosé.
When it comes to Sancerre, Cotat's village of Chavignol is a very special place. Chavignol is absolutely defined by its terroir - Kimmeridgian marl, the same soil as parts of Chablis - that imbues the wine with Chablis-like minerality.
2015 in the Loire produced powerful and saturating wines. Cotat's 2015 Rosé possesses an incredible punch and a driving, chalk-inflected length. For all of its power, it offers plenty of floral notes and impressive poise.
We're really excited to offer Pascal Cotat's Rosé. It's a wine that we fill our cellars with. We've devoted a lot of energy to finding quantities that would make an offer possible. But don't let that fool you - the quantities are still pretty modest and it's a safe bet that this will sell out quickly.
