Hidden Gem of Gevrey:
2014 Duroché Gevrey-Chambertin Champ Lieu-Dit

"This is really quite good and worth checking out." - Burghound

Lately there's been a lot of excitement surrounding Duroché and for good reason. The wines are startling in their elegance, finesse and value.

Ever since Pierre Duroché took over the reins at his father’s estate in 2005, quality has skyrocketed. The wines are some of the most exciting red Burgundies we've tasted from a relative newcomer in some time.

Along with an impressive cast of Grand Crus, Duroché has great lieu-dit holdings in Gevrey. Duroché's Champ comes from two parcels in northern Gevrey, averaging 40-45 year old vines. Of their lieux-dits, Champ stands out for its refinement, freshness and detailed minerality.

2014 was another successful year in a string of triumphs for the domaine. Duroché’s 2014s captured the best qualities of the vintage. The wines are energetic and vibrant, delivering a riveting transparency and clarity.

The 2014 Champ flaunts lifted notes of earth, spices, florals and red berry fruit, surrounding a distinct mineral core. While there’s a certain delicacy to the wine, there’s also a surprising level of complexity and depth.

Finding great value in the Côte de Nuits can be a real challenge, which is what makes discovering a gem like Duroché so thrilling. While the prices prove that word isn’t yet out on the domaine, unfortunately, we don’t expect it to stay under-the-radar for long.
