Clos Sorbé Two-Ways: Fourrier & Jouan

Posted by Ian McFadden

Clos Sorbé is very likely Morey's most heartbreakingly delicate site.

Today, we celebrate two top examples.

In the hands of Fourrier and Jouan (and of course, the retired Jacky Truchot), Clos Sorbé is a devastingly intricate, lacey and mineral expression of Red Burgundy.

This is certainly one of those offers where I have to warn you that quantities are very limited.

Clos Sorbé is one of the hardest to find bottles of Fourrier. Currently, there are only two other listings of the 2013 Clos Sorbé. Fourrier's signature is pristine expression, precise finesse and an ultra-seductive mineral-laden texture. There are few bottles where Fourrier's style flourishes as profoundly as it does here.

Fourrier's 2013 Clos Sorbé is utterly pure and vibrant. It delivers spellbindingly complex aromatics with delineated notes of flowers, minerals and red fruits.

Jouan's wines have a cult following. They are some of the most mysterious, beautiful and subtle Burgundies that you'll taste. All of Jouan's wines have a captivating mixture of perfume and delicacy. His Clos Sorbé is hauntingly brilliant. The 2014 has amazing transparency with lifted notes of earth, game and crushed red berry fruit.

There's not much more to say. Both represent just how beautiful, pure and quietly complicated Red Burgundy can be. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
