Mission in a bottle
New wine shop suits oenophiles of every type
Attributes: Call this one big and bold. The store stocks 8,000 old world and fruit-forward wines from around the globe, plus there's a big name behind these bottles: restaurateur Drew Nieporent.
Terroir: Think Barneys meets Bordeaux. A backlit serpentine wall holds 3,500 bottles and a tasting parlor is fashioned to look like a wine barrel made of 250 year old heart of pine.
Tasting Notes: Budding collectors will salivate over the 3,000 auction-grade bottles stored in the walk-in wine cellar -- a sleek, temperature-controlled glass-and-steel cold room.
