The Legend of CSH, Renewed Yet Again
2003 Trimbach Clos Ste. Hune
Lowest Price in the World...
and the '03 represents the last CSH to be priced at this level

True story: We'd just received a delivery of Trimbach's 2003 Clos Ste. Hune at the store when a good Riesling client walked in. Figuring an 03 would be plenty gregarious, we opened a bottle for him as an impromptu blind tasting…

Pressed for a guess as to what was in the glass, the client, an experienced Riesling taster and buyer, ventured: "Mosel Riesling?"

Trimbach New Release!
2005 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile
Highest-Scoring Freddy Yet

One of the best "Freddy Emile's" ever released.

Trimbach's Freddy Emile has become something of a cult wine in the last few years - we've noticed the interest in this bottle soar since the 2001, 375th Anniversary bottle was released.

Rare Back-Vintage Clos Ste. Hune
A Pristine Collection Sourced from a Private Cellar
1989 - 1995 - 1996 - 1997 - 1998 - 1999 - 2000

The Trimbachs say Clos Ste. Hune takes some seven years to come into form. We say that's just the beginning.

In fact, we've personally experienced older vintages at 20 to 30 years young and still they've been fresh and floral.

Today we present a small treasure trove of a cellar, a modest collection of back-vintage Clos Ste. Hune bought on release and in absolutely *pristine* shape - the provenance here is simply impeccable - all the wine was professionally stored and came to us still in OCBs. Details and complete tasting notes below.

Sit down with a bunch of wine fanatics and if the topic of Alsace comes up, there's always a lively discussion.

Undoubtedly, someone will bring up the great stereotypes: wines from Germany have discipline and cut; while the French are flamboyant but soft and with no real backbone. (Note: I'm just talking about wines!)

This could perhaps be an unending debate, were it not for the opulent yet restrained wines of Trimbach.

If there is one producer who marries the richness of French Riesling with the verve and rigor of its German counterpart, it is Jean Trimbach.

Today's offer, the Trimbach 2001 Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile, is one of the best Alsatian Rieslings and an outlandish value.

Half-Bottle Overachiever
2001 Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Emile 375ml
Sized and Priced to Drink with Reckless Abandon

"These 01 Freddy Emiles are still fierce, electric, bolting across the palate with dried citrus zest, candied lemon, mouth-drying rocks and a good dose of heady petrol and lanolin that hint at its age, even while the acidity seems to defy it."

I wrote the above quote earlier this year when we were offering the 2001 Freddy Emiles in 750ml.

At the time, we called it probably the best deal of the year. Almost five months later, I don’t think any of that’s changed - this wine is still sensational and it still represents one of the most insane quality-to-price ratios we’ve seen in a long time.

The Greatest White Wine Value of 2011?
2001 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile
OUTRAGEOUS BACK UP THE TRUCK PRICING AT $33.33!

This is, frankly, an outlandish value.

At nearly 20% below the lowest pricing in the world, this is a stunning white wine perfect for the upcoming summer (though structured enough for the cellar).

Today we present only the 3rd "Back Up the Truck" of 2011 - an offer that puts forth what must be the greatest white wine value of the year: Trimbach's cult Frédéric Emile at as low as $33.33.

This is one of the great wines of Alsace - a dry Riesling dense with extract, super-saturated with citrus peel and a complex, complex minerality. This is uncompromising wine and even at it's normal $40-$60 price, it is a value to reckon with.

Alsatian Air Conditioning
2008 Trimbach Riesling "Reserve"
as low as $19.95 a bottle...
BACK UP THE TRUCK!

This is Riesling at its freshest, most cutting, most cooling.

Jean Trimbach says that the 2008 vintage is the best since 1990, and possibly in the last 100 years.

This, even after the insane success of 2007. He’s not alone in his praise: Considered word on the wine street is that 2008 in Alsace gets an A++.

This is the first parcel of Trimbach’s 2008 Riesling Reserve in the United Statesjust in time for summer.

While the Trimbachs say that Clos Ste. Hune needs seven years to come into its own, we've experienced older vintages at 20 to 30 years young and still found them precocious and ravishingly fresh. A recently tasted 1973 was still profound, showing no signs of slowing down. These are wines that defy typical projected aging windows.

Trimbach Madness Continues
2002 Cuvée Frédéric Emile 750mls and 1.5Ls
Straight from the Maison: Bottles and RARE Magnums

"Here is a wine to strain through your teeth... possessed of vivacious, ripe acids, lemon, grapefruit and faintly bitter black fruit notes over a foundation of chalk, leading to a long, juicy finish." -David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate

As was emphatically proven last week, the Freddy Emile is a cult Riesling if ever there was one.

Seriously, we got a hundred or so requests AFTER we had already sold out of the 2001. And the requests continue to roll in, well over a week later...

So today we respond to the obvious demand by offering up our (much smaller) parcel of the 2002 Frédéric Emile at a similarly ridiculous price.
