Special Futures Pricing Up To 15% Lower than 2008!
J.J. Prüm is without a doubt the most iconic wine estate in Germany... they also produce some of the longest-lived, most captivating expressions of Mosel Riesling.
Today we present the very first, just unveiled batch of monumental 2009 J.J. Prüms at special futures pricing!
And while the word "monumental" might seem like just another shiny adjective to use, nothing could be further from the truth. J.J. Prüm simply makes incredibly substantial Middle Mosel Rieslings - wines that are both pure and transparent, yet denser and richer than most.
These are also wines that can age - even the "simple" Kabinetts - up to 30 years and much, much longer.
For the money, the wines of J.J. Prum are likely the greatest values in collectible wines with both name recognition and extraordinary cellar potential.
For the 2009 vintage, two things are worth stating. First: 2009 is a great vintage that really suits the style at Prüm - ripe, yet with clarity and balance. As I state in my 2009 Germany vintage report, "Yes - this is a ripe vintage... but the top wines have more than enough discipline to tame this fruit, vigorous acidities that serve as not-so-gentle reminders of the concept of structure."
The second thing to note is the value: The 2009s have benefited from the strength of the dollar through the spring and summer and they are going to come to market a good 10-15% below last year's prices.
While the Kabinett is always one of our personal favorites and the Auslesen have always been the jewel in Prüm’s crown, for this offering we're going to focus heavily on the Spätlesen, as we really feel that these are the greatest strength of the vintage - full, powerful, yet disciplined and capable of many years in the cellar. Still, there's no denying that Prüm’s Auslesen are among the most coveted and ageworthy Rieslings in all of Germany, and the 2009s are reported to be very, very good.
This is blue-chip German wine from a top vintage... and the pricing hasn't been lower in years. But the pricing won't last, so those who want to secure this special futures pricing are advised to act sooner rather than later.
