Crush pairs wines to dishes from NYCs top Chefs

Our New York City summers always bring something special.

This Thursday evening we'll continue to showcase our award-winning selections, as well as some of our favorite 'off the beaten path' favorites by the taste, glass, and bottle in recyclable govino glasses.

We've made our picks specifically to accompany menus of small plates from a roster of New York’s best chefs, including Mark Ladner of Del Posto, Scott Conant of Scarpetta, George Mendes of Aldea, and Cesare Casella of Salumeria Rossi who will trade off cooking each Thursday.

The fun began on Thursday, July 30th when we took over the entire 7th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design’s newly redesigned building at 2 Columbus Circle with Executive Chef Mark Ladner (Del Posto).

This isn’t a retail store  – it's a Crush “Pop-Up” Wine Bar, unlike any other in NYC.

Award-winning Architect/Designer Stephanie Goto (Morimoto, Buddakan, Monkey Bar, Corton, etc) and her friend Takeshi Miyakawa collaborated on the design of this very special space.  The bars and tables are crafted from repurposed wine boxes, the seating landscape is made from corrugated cardboard wine dividers and a textured wall made of wine box inserts doubles as a changeable menu peg board. The design embraces the temporary spirit of the event as all of the components literally “pop up.”

With sweeping views of Columbus Circle and Central Park, the space provides an incredible experience of New York. (The Museum also features “pay as you wish” admission on Thursdays, beginning at 6pm, so enjoy free run of the entire museum, which houses a stunning collection of objects that bridge – and blur – the space between object, art and craft.)

Entrance to the Crush “Pop-Up” Wine Bar is free, the design and experience is one-of-a-kind, the location is in the beating heart of this great city, the wine is world class and the prices are real.

But good things never last – this is a wine bar that defines itself as ephemera, literally.

With this final Thursday in August, the bar will be folded up. Find all the details below and don’t hesitate to email us at MADCrush@crushwineco.com if you have any questions or concerns.

See you Thursday.

PARTNERS AND FRIENDS

The Museum of Arts and Design is an important cultural venue for NYC; we’re proud to be partnering with them and we sincerely hope that guests of the Crush “Pop-Up” Bar will experience the treasures within the museum as well. For information on the collection and current exhibitions, see www.madmuseum.org.

Stephanie Goto is a renowned architect and designer whose spaces reflect a process that is collaborative and integrated. In 2006 she completed the Morimoto Restaurant in NYC with architect Tadao Ando and has since designed the environs for Buddakan, Drew Nieporent’s Corton (redefining the classic Montrachet space in Tribeca), Aldea and the Monkey Bar, to name but a few public projects. Current projects also include an artist in residence building, private residences, hotels, restaurants and student housing in New York, Connecticut, Los Angeles and Asia. She is also a great friend of the store and half the fun of this project (or considerably more?) has simply been the opportunity to work with her. www.stephaniegoto.com

Govino. We found the perfect glass for the perfect space. Govino is “where wine meets design” – these are elegant, shatterproof, reusable and recyclable. Come check them out, either at the Crush “Pop-Up” Wine Bar or at the 57th street retail store. govino
